The log cabin is a unique American dwelling – it claims appeal as a basic form of shelter and also a creator of memories, good times, laughter shared among friends and family. Intimate and simple, the Log Cabin is a trusted American icon. Cayuga Lake Cabins invites you to enjoy our unique form of retreat – whether for a romantic couple’s getaway, a family reunion, a birthday celebration for friends, a writers’ retreat, or any occasion, elaborate or simple.
In 2014 Jim and Cheryl Santos envisioned a place for quiet respite and celebration of this beautiful area of the country, and we began the construction of cabins that we ourselves wanted to retreat to. Our goal that we carried out was to develop wonderful inviting cabins that provide all the amenities and comforts of home, spaciousness, coziness, and the feeling of really getting away from it all.
Here in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate NY, on the west shore of Cayuga Lake, take in the serenity of shimmering lake views, sunrises & sunsets, admire flocking geese and white tailed deer, rejoice about pristine forests, vineyards and waterfalls. Retreat into unspoiled natural beauty, explore hiking gorges and trails, dine in wonderful restaurants where you will indulge in the fabulous local food fare this region is known for. Love the wines of the Finger Lakes? Cayuga Lake Cabins are centrally located on the Cayuga Wine Trail in a wine region that garners raves for its Reisling, Gerwurtztraminer, and Sparkling dry rose wines.
Our guests rave about our location – close to wineries, hiking trails, attractions, yet far away crowds, noise and traffic. They tell us they love the locale, the quality of the cabin construction, the privacy and quiet and the personal experience the cabins offer compared to impersonal hotel rooms. Create a gold mine of memories with your cabin stay. Enjoy the best that log cabin vacation rentals can offer in our contemporary vacation rental log cabins (we have 2 nearly identical cabins, each sleeping up to 6 guests). Cayuga Lake Cabins is your Finger Lakes getaway dream come true. You don’t have to search for a better place to stay.
My husband and I usually plan a fall mini vacation around our anniversary, which is in the fall. We both love the outdoors, hiking, biking, kayaking but also love interesting cities, good wine and good food. This cabin’s surroundings and central location was perfect. The cabin lived up to it’s description of being rustic yet modern. Fully equipped, clean and tidy, beautifully appointed furniture and some nice touches including board games, some books about the area and a nice selection of movies for a quiet evening. Although it was just the two of use it would comfortably accommodate another couple and with pull out couch maybe 6 people. The fire pit was awesome and we joined our neighbours on our last night for wine and nice conversation. We had not planned to do any cooking as our focus was to tour wine country, eating at interesting places, visit some state parks, and go mountain biking. However you certainly could have had all your meals there and there are grocery stores in close proximity that would allow you to do that. In the local area around Cayuga Lake, we toured several wineries/vineyards, a goat farm that produced amazing cheeses, had a lovely breakfast at Busy Bee Market, and visited and did some biking in Taughannock Park ( the falls there are amazing). The fall colours were at their peak and the scenery in the area is breath taking. You are in close proximity as well to Seneca Lake so we did visit that area and had lunch in Geneva at a nicely appointed pub called Stone Cutters at Belhurst Castle. That was worth the 35 minute drive and we ended up driving all around the lake. If you are a mountain bike enthusiast a visit to Shindagin Hollow State forest is really a must do. Fabulous trails. About an hour from the cabin, south of Ithaca. The bonus here is that Ithaca is a lovely city, with a lot of restaurants and the drive is also breath taking. We must admit we did not spend that much time at the cabin nor did we really take advantage of lake but if you wanted to place to just relax and chill, it was pretty perfect. Thank you Cheryl and Jim for a memorable experience.
We enjoyed our stay at the cute cabin. Perfect for 2 couples and the owners were very welcoming. We loved that we could bring our other couples dog as he enjoyed the cabin too. It’s very close to all the wineries and lake and had all the accomodations we needed. Highly reccomended.
We had such a nice stay at this cabin. It is even more beautiful in person than the pictures show. Such a peaceful spot but not too far from civilization. The fire pit is lovely and having everything we needed provided is great. The kids loved it, we loved it and can’t wait to come back in the summer when we can swim.
What a wonderful cottage. When we walked in, the aroma of fresh, new wood greeted us. The cottage is excellently appointed, clean and welcoming. We wanted for nothing except more time to spend in this home away from home. My wish is to come back in the spring with my son and his family and rent both cottages.
Rented this cabin for a Thanksgiving get-away. Cabin had a cozy rustic feel yet modern conveniences. Arrived the day before Thanksgiving. Everything was clean and ready to begin small vacation. Jim and Cheryl do an outstanding job with the Welcome Book. Information was current and quite helpful. Jim and Cheryl came over to introduce themselves and brought a welcome bottle of wine. Nice touch. Definitely would like to come back in the summer. Great to deal with Jim and Cheryl – efficient, friendly and professional.
