Lovely cabin perfectly located to explore Wine trails and Finger Lakes Beauty

My husband and I usually plan a fall mini vacation around our anniversary, which is in the fall. We both love the outdoors, hiking, biking, kayaking but also love interesting cities, good wine and good food. This cabin’s surroundings and central location was perfect. The cabin lived up to it’s description of being rustic yet modern. Fully equipped, clean and tidy, beautifully appointed furniture and some nice touches including board games, some books about the area and a nice selection of movies for a quiet evening. Although it was just the two of use it would comfortably accommodate another couple and with pull out couch maybe 6 people. The fire pit was awesome and we joined our neighbours on our last night for wine and nice conversation. We had not planned to do any cooking as our focus was to tour wine country, eating at interesting places, visit some state parks, and go mountain biking. However you certainly could have had all your meals there and there are grocery stores in close proximity that would allow you to do that. In the local area around Cayuga Lake, we toured several wineries/vineyards, a goat farm that produced amazing cheeses, had a lovely breakfast at Busy Bee Market, and visited and did some biking in Taughannock Park ( the falls there are amazing). The fall colours were at their peak and the scenery in the area is breath taking. You are in close proximity as well to Seneca Lake so we did visit that area and had lunch in Geneva at a nicely appointed pub called Stone Cutters at Belhurst Castle. That was worth the 35 minute drive and we ended up driving all around the lake. If you are a mountain bike enthusiast a visit to Shindagin Hollow State forest is really a must do. Fabulous trails. About an hour from the cabin, south of Ithaca. The bonus here is that Ithaca is a lovely city, with a lot of restaurants and the drive is also breath taking. We must admit we did not spend that much time at the cabin nor did we really take advantage of lake but if you wanted to place to just relax and chill, it was pretty perfect. Thank you Cheryl and Jim for a memorable experience.
